Meet Pelham Civic Association President Michael Ming
On January 15th Michael Ming was sworn in as the President of the Pelham Civic Association (Est. 1939).
Mike grew up in Manhasset, Long Island, and studied Marketing at Boston College.
Mike and his wife Mara have lived in Pelham since 1997, and their son Justin, starting Goalie on the 2017 Pelham High School varsity hockey team that won the State Championship, attends Manhattan College, where he plays Division 1 golf.
After spending more than two decades as a financial services industry executive, now as President of Sales and Marketing for The Job Helpers, Mike helps neighbors, friends, and colleagues transition from one high-level career to another.
Mike, who was introduced to the Pelham Civics by long- time friends: Harry and Marlene Wasilchak and Tim and Joanne Case, served on the Golf Outing, Community Awards, and Membership Committees (the last two as Chairman).
Mike’s contagious passion for the Civics stems from his overt enthusiasm for its programs and projects targeted at the Pelham community.
He believes that the Pelham Civic Association’s Help a Child, Change a Life, and Good Neighbors Committees, among others, exemplify the best of the Civics and its members. And Mike especially enjoys shopping for gifts for children at holiday time and bringing those gifts to the families—where he is greeted when the kids' eyes light up. And he enjoys the Olympics, where everyone is invited to participate and is a winner no matter where they place.
Mike’s goal as President is to serve and help the needy, elderly, and youth of Pelham by raising funds to “give back” to our diverse community.
During his tenure, Mike intends to establish a robust pipeline of new and younger members, while sustaining the existing long-term core membership. And shine a light on the many programs that the Pelham Civics organizes, funds, or supports.
Mike’s infectious leadership and energy will undoubtedly be the mainstay of his tenure.
When not working in his profession or managing the Civics, you can find Mike on the golf course or rooting for the NY Rangers and Yankees.
